Dermal fillers can be used to lift, smooth, and contour facial features by strategically adding volume to areas of the face where it is needed.
As we age, our face naturally loses some of its fullness in the form of receding bone and fat pad loss. The loss of volume leads to facial shadowing, deeper folds, and the appearance of lines. When we identify areas with volume-loss and recreate that structure with small filler injections, skin lays smoother on the face while wrinkles and sagging are improved.
Dermal fillers can be used to restore volume through subtle placement in areas around the face such as the cheeks, nasolabial folds, marionnette lines and lips. This creates a healthy, more refined facial contour and youthful appearance.
Cheeks
Research shows that our eyes recognize high, full cheekbones as a sign of youth and beauty. As we age, volume diminishes in the face and cheeks begin to flatten and sag. This leads to the appearance of a flat face, lines around the mouth, shadows under the eyes, and sagging skin along the jawline. Take your hands and pinch the skin on your cheekbones. Notice how this pulls up the skin on your lower face while also helping with undereye sagging.
Dermal Fillers can be used to restore volume in the cheeks and recreate the youthful structure that has been lost. The result is a subtle, yet remarkable smoothing of facial wrinkles and return of youthful contour.
Well-defined cheeks create balance, improve the facial profile, and are a classic symbol of youth. Whether you have experienced volume loss in the cheek area, or have never had defined cheekbones in the past, dermal fillers can be used for cheek augmentation to create contour, improve under eye appearance, and enhance the overall facial shape.
Nasolabial Folds
This is one of the most common concerns as women age. Nasolabial folds are the grooves that run from the base of your nose to the corner of your mouth. Treatment of nasolabial folds involves a full-face assessment to determine the cause and choose the most appropriate filler and placement. Skin Science Aesthetics will work with your facial structure to create a softening of these lines to maintain a youthful, healthy appearance.
Lips
Full, plump lips are an obvious sign of youth and beauty. There are a multitude of lip shapes and sizes, each unique to a person’s individual facial anatomy. This is truly an area where subtle changes really enhance the entire facial perception.
At Skin Science, we take a “less is more” approach to lip filler. The goal is to have a plump, natural-looking lip. We are not loyal to any particular dermal filler: we choose our filler based on the goal of the patient. The choice of filler may be different for someone wanting more height and a defined border vs. someone who is trying to fill wrinkles in the lip and get a more hydrated look. Each lip is different and we work within your unique facial structure and desired look.
Lip Hydration vs Augmentation
- Dermal fillers can be used in the lips for either hydration or augmentation. Lip hydration places small amounts of dermal filler within the “pillows” of the lip to help smooth lines and add plumpness, resulting in a naturally hydrated look.
- Augmentation may involve defining the border, correcting asymmetry, and increasing the fullness of the lip.
In either case, we’ll make sure the treatment, your facial structure, and your goals are all in sync.
